We are seeking a Cloud Solutions Architect (Mid/Senior) to support the Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA), Office of the CIO. In this role, you will design, build, and optimize secure, scalable cloud infrastructure solutions that enable mission-critical modernization efforts. You will bridge business objectives with technical execution by leading cloud architecture, infrastructure migrations, automation, and governance initiatives in AWS environments, while ensuring compliance with DoD security standards and delivering high-impact solutions for data-driven security cooperation programs.

Essential Job Responsibilities

Builds, designs, implements and refines cloud architectures and provides prescriptive guidance across the network and security.

  • Leads early scoping definitions and identifies critical dependencies.
  • Identifies and mitigates technology risks and develops architecture to support processes.
  • Collaborates with functional business units to drive business solutions and direction.
  • Develops and documents framework for integration and implementation of cloud systems.
  • Understands and determines sizing, capacity planning and requirements for infrastructure, network, and security in the cloud offering.
  • Design comprehensive end-to-end cloud infrastructure solutions that balance performance, security, scalability, and cost-efficiency.
  • Plan and execute migration strategies for moving legacy on-premise systems to cloud-native environments (AWS GovCloud preferred).
  • Develop and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as AWS CloudFormation, AWS CDK, and Terraform to automate provisioning and configuration.
  • Implement robust security controls, including IAM policies, encryption, VPC architecture, network security, and Zero Trust principles to meet DoD RMF, FedRAMP, and other compliance requirements.
  • Optimize cloud environments through monitoring, cost analysis, performance tuning, and resource management.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (developers, data engineers, cybersecurity, and stakeholders) to translate complex technical concepts into actionable solutions and executive-level recommendations.
  • Support containerization and orchestration strategies using Docker and Kubernetes for microservices and scalable workloads.
  • Develop automation pipelines and integrate with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab) to streamline deployment processes.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned or required to advance mission goals.

Minimum Qualifications

Deep expertise in AWS cloud platforms, services, and best practices.

  • Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as AWS CloudFormation and AWS CDK.
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation using Python (or similar languages).
  • Solid understanding of networking, security (IAM, VPC, encryption), and Zero Trust models.
  • Experience with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes).
  • Ability to work independently while thriving in collaborative team settings.
  • Self-motivated initiator with strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach
  • Clearance: Must possess and maintain an active Secret clearance at the time of consideration
  • Remote-eligible position; must align with Eastern Time Zone core business hours

Preferred Requirements

Active AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate or Professional certification (or equivalent).

  • Experience supporting DoD or federal government cloud environments (AWS GovCloud, Azure Government).
  • Hands-on experience with Databricks, ADVANA, or other data/analytics platforms in the cloud.
  • Familiarity with migration tools and strategies (e.g., AWS Migration Hub, DMS, or Application Migration Service).
  • Knowledge of DevSecOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure monitoring tools.
  • Experience in SAFe Agile environments, including participation in PI planning and Scrum/Kanban ceremonies.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage both technical teams and senior leadership.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to remain in a stationary position for prolonged periods while working at a computer.
  • Ability to operate a keyboard, mouse, and standard office equipment to perform analytical tasks.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate in virtual meetings, briefings, and secure collaboration environments.
  • Ability to review, analyze, and interpret digital data for extended periods with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Occasional light lifting of documents or equipment up to 10 lbs, if needed for home-office setup.
  • Must maintain a home work environment that meets company and government security requirements (e.g., controlled space for handling sensitive or FOUO information, if applicable).
  • Must be able to work assigned East Coast core business hours to support program and customer requirements.
